Cradle of Fire, the short film based on the story of Roman god Vulcan, will be premiered in Sheffield on November 7 2024.
The film re-imagines the mythological story of Vulcan, god of fires, furnaces and volcanoes, who was chosen as an icon for Sheffield at the height of its steelmaking.
Working in partnership with Sheffield Museums and The Land of Iron in Cleveland, Carolyn Waudby has written a poetic narrative for the film, collaborating with artist Diana Scarborough and musicologist Kim Cunio to create an original, multi-media experience.
The night will include an exciting performance from The Grenoside Sworddancers. Sworddancing was customarily practised by the people who worked in mining and sworddancing industries, especially at Christmas time.
Tickets can be booked via Eventbrite here.
